BRITISH RANKING AND RANKING SYSTEM (CURRENT) The current ranking system for the BJA Ranking Events The British Open, Northern Ireland Open, Welsh Open and The Scottish Open. These events will carry ranking status until stated otherwise.
The judoka will be allowed to aggregate his best three (3) results. The best six judoka will be invited to the Grand Finals held on: Saturday 13 of December 2003, at Fenton Manor sports Complex, Stoke-on-Trent. Up to two additional fighters will be invited to take part at the discretion of the World Class Performance Director and senior national coaches. The additional judoka’s selection will be influenced by the following: A) Results and performance at: i) Senior World Championships ii) Olympic Games iii) Senior European Champions iv) Super A tournaments v) A tournaments vi) B tournaments vii) Junior World Championships viii) Junior Europeans ix) Other major events felt appropriate B)Other Influences i) Injuries ii) Work and Study commitments FORMAT OF GRAND FINALThe trials will be run as a pool system 2 pools of 4. Semi-finals: 1st of pool A verses 2nd of pool B, 1st of pool B verses 2nd of pool A. Bronze fight Loser of semi-final then final. Morning weigh in 7:00am –7:30am. Competition start 10:00. Rankings as they stand after the Northern Irish Open.
